Values/why set up the project
Leading light was set up to meet the need of people that have been diagnosed or identified themselves as having social anxiety, depression or self esteem issues. The group initially provided peer support, and practical advice to members buy people that identify themselves as having social anxiety. Leading light has been set up for anyone suffering from Shyness, Social anxiety, members have a safe space to explore how their social anxiety affects them and find positive ways to live a fulfilling life.
Providing members a safe, confidential non judgemental, empathic and accepting space. Members, both adults and children will also be encouraged to explore their place in the world, how they view themselves and others from a relational prospective.
Educating and promoting mental health to the general public to reduces the stigma and address the lack of understanding around mental health.
Adult Members will be able to access a range of diverse support systems from Holistic treatments, group discussion and one to one therapeutic support, these services are aimed to provide the tools needed to live in the world. Ultimately it is the member’s responsibility to challenge themselves to develop and live in the world or not.
Leading Light values honesty, integrity and transparency as an organisation members will grow are encouraged to be part of the organisation through their development. They will attend groups and workshops and when they feel confident they can then organise their own social events as their self confidence grows they can decided to be trained to run their own groups and workshops to support other members coming through the organisation.
Adults going through the leading light process will be in a greater position to live a more fulfilling life and be able to re-engage with society, get back into employment, and build stronger relationships.
